For Elias Truyers, 2024 was all about change. He traded Belgium for the Netherlands, a big step that meant not only a move, but also a search for a new employer. That search eventually brought him to ConQuaestor, where he now works as a Senior Consultant. "I wanted to keep challenging myself and grow in my profession, and that's exactly what I can do here."
Elias began his career in Belgium, where he earned a master's degree in Business Administration after a bachelor's degree in Legal Practice. His career started at an international audit firm. After two years as a junior auditor, he switched to consultancy and worked as an interim financial professional at ICI Paris XL and Nike, among others.
The move to the Netherlands stemmed from a personal decision: living with his girlfriend in Hilversum. "I knew I had to look for a new challenge in the Netherlands. During my search I ended up at Team EIFFEL," says Elias. Initially he thought he would start working again as an interim financial professional, but during conversations it became clear that his profile and ambitions were a perfect fit for ConQuaestor. "The more I learned about ConQuaestor, the more enthusiastic I became. The focus on consultancy, the variety of assignments and the opportunity to further develop myself appealed to me enormously," he explains. "This is really a new challenge."
Challenges and growth as a Senior Consultant
As a Senior Consultant, Elias works on a wide range of financial issues: "Finance Excellence, Process Excellence, Risk and ESG - I get the chance to develop broadly and discover where my strengths lie."
In addition to the substantive challenge, Elias also experiences a steep learning curve. "Within ConQuaestor, we work in relatively small and close-knit teams. That means you quickly interact with managers and partners who are incredibly experienced," he says. "Working with experienced consultants ensures that you continuously gain new insights. You learn not only by doing, but also by sparring with colleagues who have been in the business for years."
In addition, he gets plenty of room for professional development. "From my first week, I attended trainings, such as 'Sliding like a Management Consultant,' where we learned how to present complex analyses clearly," Elias says. "ConQuaestor offers the Young Executive Program (YEP).in which young consultants receive intensive guidance. As a Senior Consultant, I do not participate in this program, but I do get the opportunity to take part in parts of it. I appreciate that enormously."
Future and ambitions
For Elias, the coming period revolves around deepening and specialization. "I want to discover where my expertise lies and develop further in topics such as mergers & acquisitions and post-merger integration. These are topics that fascinate me and in which I would like to do more," he says.
