Over a decade ago, Dave traded his job in accountancy for a new adventure as a senior finance specialist at ConQuaestor. With work experience as an assistant accountant under his belt, he took the step to sit on the other side of the table. The opportunity to carry out various assignments at ConQuaestor, just as in accountancy, and to take a look behind the scenes at various customers, appealed to him enormously.
"There was an instant click"
After completing his college degree in Accountancy, Dave began his career at a large accounting firm. At the same time, he started a master's degree, which he did not complete: "I became a father of two beautiful daughters and preferred to gain work experience instead of learning theory from textbooks." In 2013, ConQuaestor came on his path, there was an immediate click with the Business Manager and the diversity of clients and the growth and development opportunities also appealed to him.
Making a difference as a Finance/Business Controller
In recent years, Dave has supported several clients from ConQuaestor as a senior finance specialist. Thanks to his social personality, he establishes contact easily and adapts quickly. This allows him to propose effective improvement initiatives for a variety of organizations. "At my last client, a healthcare organization, I held the role of Financial/Business Controller," Dave says.
Here he was responsible for the financial statements and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing and was the point of contact for the auditor during the financial statement audit. "My duties included analyzing costs, budgets, financial reports and KPIs, coordinating work and managing employees. I also improved the quality of audit capture and supported the merger process," he adds.
Continue to grow as a senior
Although Dave has already gained considerable work experience, he is far from finished: "I want to gain a lot of customer knowledge and grow into an all-round financial controller. This role fits well with my personal skills and personality."
The assignments he has done so far from ConQuaestor have helped him grow toward that goal, but he wants to keep making strides. "I just want to get even better at my job and in the field of Finance & Control," Dave says. "ConQuaestor helps me do that by finding assignments and roles for me that match my personal skills, wants and needs. Also by offering the right training courses, I continue to develop myself and achieve my ambitions."

Dave advises others to also make the switch to ConQuaestor. According to him, the interesting clients and good support from your Performance Manager ensure that you can continuously develop: "Anything is possible, provided you believe in yourself."
He also says the meetings and informal atmosphere in the office contribute to job satisfaction. "Very nice, professional colleagues work at ConQuaestor, but there is also a pleasant atmosphere in the office," he says. "And there are regular meetings and activities organized, which is also important to me as a person."
